Facilitating Conversations for a Better Newton County with UGA Archway Professional Jeffrey Burke - Episode 23

Jeffrey shares how he helps foster collaboration and unity across local government, community leaders, and citizens in Newton County. Through a series of listening sessions and surveys, four core concerns have risen to the forefront: 

  • Education and Workforce Development

  • Government Unity and Collaboration

  • Community Health and Wellness

  • Whole Community Housing

Each of these priorities has a dedicated workgroup actively working to create actionable solutions, many of which involve collaboration with UGA students for research and planning. Jeffrey's role is not just to facilitate these discussions but to inspire innovative solutions by encouraging the community to think outside the box. As he puts it, "If you help people to dream big, and see what could be, magic happens."

Born and raised in Wrens, Georgia, and now living in Athens, Jeffrey's journey into public service began in São Paulo, Brazil, and has continued in Georgia, where he has served in roles with UGA Extension and Georgia 4-H. His heart for community development is evident in the work he does for Newton County.
